Alan Carr‘s comedy series Changing Ends has been renewed for two seasons at ITV.
Following season 2 premiering in July, the semi-autobiographical comedy has received a double series order for 12 episodes. First aired in June 2023, the show stars Carr – and Oliver Savell as a young Alan – following the comedian’s childhood in 1980s Northampton, where he grew up the son of a fourth-division football manager.
Speaking about the renewal, Carr said returning for two more series at ITVX and ITV1 feels “mind-blowing”.

“To get your own sitcom recommissioned for a series is the most wonderful news ever, but to have TWO series recommissioned is utterly mind-blowing and such a huge compliment which I do not take lightly,” he said in a statement.
“I know how much this show has resonated with the viewers, and I promise I won’t let you down, and for someone whose actual life at times feels like a sitcom, believe me, there are more tales from my childhood to be told,” he continued.
“Two series commissioned eh? My dream of Changing Ends becoming Northampton’s answer to The Crown becomes two steps closer to being a reality.”
The half-hour series is co-created by Carr with the late Simon Carlyle (creator of Two Doors Down), with Carr also co-writing it with Gabby Best and serving as executive producer.

“Changing Ends continues to grow into becoming one of our most popular comedies with audiences clearly loving the early adventures of little Alan Carr,” ITV’s Head of Comedy Nana Hughes said.
“The cast is simply superb, and the heartwarming storytelling has clearly struck a chord with our viewers.”
Changing Ends is produced by Baby Cow Productions, which is also behind beloved comedy Gavin & Stacey.
“We’re delighted that ITV have trusted us with not one but two more series of our hit comedy Changing Ends,” Baby Cow’s CEO Sarah Monteith said. “We’re having fun with Alan’s early-teens era, it’s getting emotional!”
Changing Ends series 1 and 2 are streaming now on ITVX. Release dates for seasons 3 and 4 will be announced in due course.
