Birmingham Airport has issued a warning to every traveller after a passenger was stopped at security with a tub of slime. Bosses shared a picture of a large tub of blue slime, which is used as a popular toy by children, in a pile of confiscated liquids.
Pictures from inside the airport’s security hall showed various liquids seized from hand luggage for being non-compliant. They included the slime, a can of Red Bull, a family-sized handwash, sun cream that was over 100ml and reusable cups that were partially full.
The airport urged passengers to comply with national rules limiting liquids in hand luggage to 100ml after huge queues to clear security earlier this year.

The venue has installed machines capable of processing larger amounts as part of its ‘next generation’ security hall, which is now open but passengers must stick to existing liquid rules for now. You can read a full run down of those in our liquids guide, here.
The latest message from the airport read: “The new government directive means passengers can only carry liquids, pastes and gels up to 100ml in their hand luggage. It is imperative all customers comply with the nationwide rule to ensure a smoother and simpler transition through the airport.
“All passengers leaving BHX can only carry 100ml containers of liquids, pastes and gels in their hand luggage. Do not put them in plastic bags and do not remove them from security. There is no restriction on how many 100ml containers can be carried.”
