Adidas demand becomes clear just hours after Newcastle home shirt unveiling

Newcastle United’s return to Adidas has proved so popular with Toon fans that authentic home shirt has already sold out on the club’s official website.

The much anticipated release of the new home strip for the 2024-25 campaign took place on Friday, with hundreds of fans queuing through the night at the club’s temporary store at St James’ Park.

Fans who decided not to brave the cold were also able to buy the shirt in store at JD Sports and online too – but after just five hours, the ‘authentic’ version has sold out. This design is the more expensive of the two adults releases and comes in at a cost of £110 – £30 more than the other one.

The difference between two lies with the ‘HEAT.RDY technology’ – essentially, it is the version that the players will wear.

Back at the club store, staff members could be seen going back and forth across the road to St James’ Park and reappearing with new stock of the shirt within an hour of the doors opening with the jerseys flying off the shelves.

However for those fearing they’ve missed their chance online – the £110 version is still available online at JD Sports . United announced earlier this week that JD Sports was to become their official retail partner.

The club’s CCO Peter Silverstone, who popped down to see fans at St James’ Park on the kit release day, said: “We know that being able to wear kit, and other club-branded products, is so important to our supporters. It adds to that strong sense of connection that we want every fan to feel with the club.

“We are delighted to team up with JD to give supporters incredible access to Newcastle United’s much awaited adidas replica kits and ranges.

“This is a hugely exciting time for the club as we reunite with Adidas. We are assembling a world-class retail line-up by partnering with JD to complement our own in-house retail business and the offering in adidas’ own stores.

“Our fans in the UK and across Europe will undoubtedly benefit from JD’s extensive, and premium, high-street and online presence, where they will be able to buy the club’s exciting adidas ranges alongside JD’s broader premium sports apparel and footwear offering.”
