A Decade By Decade Breakdown Of The Beauty Pat McGrath Conjured At Vogue World: Paris

“It’s a decade-by-decade extravaganza of some of the most iconic looks I’ve created for the runway,” says Dame Pat McGrath, creative director of make-up direction at Vogue World Paris. “It’s a nod to my greatest hits, but each with a spin to a specific decade and sport for that section of the show.” The make-up artist known to all in the industry as “Mother”, of course, delivered. From gunmetal-grey glitter studded with diamanté for the 1960s fencing section of the show, to the disco ball-inspired eyes, McGrath masterminded myriad incredible looks for Vogue’s Parisian celebration of style and sport.

The show took place in the historic Place Vendôme, so the make-up had to stand out against the vast – and grand – backdrop. “We have made sure every look is bold, so it can be seen from afar,” she explains. “Skin is glowing, gleaming and beautiful. We have some looks that are dramatically and theatrically pale, others that are über sporty, glowing and fresh – it all comes to life with my Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection System.”
