Manchester United will listen to offers for Marcus Rashford this summer and are prepared to accelerate his departure by dropping their asking price, according to reports.

Rashford has been a mainstay at Old Trafford ever since he burst into the team in 2016, notching up his 400th appearance for the Manchester giants towards the end of last season.

The England international first joined United at the age of seven and is much-loved by Manchester United fans despite his mixed form for the club over the last three seasons.

Rashford struggled in 2021-22, scoring just five goals, before enjoying his best campaign to date in 2022-23 with 30 goals in all competitions.

United supporters hoped Rashford would continue his fine form last term but he only contributed eight goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.

Rashford’s seemingly stagnating career – he was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad – and a couple of spats with Erik ten Hag has led to speculation he may have played his final game for the club.

The Sun say Manchester United are open to offers for Rashford and while they value the player at around £80m, they may accept £60m to ensure they cash in on the superstar this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain have held long-time interest in Rashford and are expected to sign a new attacking player this summer after Kylian Mbappe left the French capital to join Real Madrid.

Rashford, who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man squad for the Euros following a difficult season, has previously been linked with a move to other Premier League clubs.

Speaking last month, United boss Ten Hag admitted he understood why Rashford was left at home as England travelled to Germany for the Euros.

‘Grealish and Rashford out? They were both lacking this season, it’s clear,’ he told NOS Studio Voetbal before England’s first game against Serbia. ‘And when you are lacking, you risk not getting picked for your country.’

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, said towards the end of last season that now might be an appropriate time for Rashford to end his long association with the Old Trafford club.

‘We all know Marcus has the ability to play at the top level,’ he said. ‘I just wonder if it’s time for Marcus to go and play elsewhere.

‘I don’t know. He has to ask himself that question. I want him to stay and break records at this club.

‘But he needs to get his head right, get his head down, work hard and get back to the player we know he can be.’

Manchester United were expected to part ways with Ten Hag after a dismal season in which the club finished just eighth in the Premier League.

But the Dutchman effectively saved his job by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final and picking up his second piece of silverware since arriving in Manchester.
