Here’s your first look at Jodie Comer in 28 Years Later

Must read

28 Years Later is finally filming in the UK ahead of its release next year, and we now have our first look at Jodie Comer in the new movie.

Comer is part of an all-star cast that Danny Boyle has assembled for his highly-anticipated new movie, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell and Erin Kellyman.

Perhaps most excitingly, Cillian Murphy is not only executive producing the movie, but also reprising his role as courier Jim from 28 Days Later in a “surprising” way.

We don’t know too much about the plot of 28 Years Later, other than the obvious that it’ll be set 28 years after the sequel (probably) and is set to be the start of a new trilogy of movies.

Nia DaCosta is set to direct the sequel to 28 Years Later, which will reportedly film back-to-back with the new movie. It’s unclear whether Comer will reprise her role in the next movie, although O’Connell is said to be the lead of the sequel.

One thing we do know about Comer’s character is that she is a Geordie, with the actor revealing she was watching clips of Cheryl on The X Factor to prepare for the role.

Before filming started, Comer also reflected on seeing the first movie and how 28 Years Later has something in common other than being a sequel.

“I remember seeing 28 Days Later and I was so struck with how it was so rooted in reality, and it was more about the exploration of us as a species and our behaviour and how we react,” she explained.

“It felt like there was a lot of emotional truth within the film that really anchored it. That’s also what I felt when I read this script.”

28 Years Later will be released in cinemas on June 20, 2025.
