A man who allegedly became aggressive towards police officers following a concern for welfare call has been arrested in North Devon.
Officers were called to an emergency incident in Bridgeland Street in Bideford around 11.40am yesterday morning (July 2). Eyewitnesses reported seeing multiple police officers and ambulance crews were seen in the area.
The man was located by police and during a search, officers found what is believed to be a quantity of Class B drug. The man reportedly became aggressive, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

The force said he was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and a public order offence and was taken to North Devon District Hospital for treatment for a minor injury.
An eyewitness said there was a large number of police and ambulance personnel in Bridgeland Street. They said: “Happening now Bridgeland Street, Bideford. Not sure what actually happening. Police have closed the road. Ambulance there now too. Six police cars and one ambulance”.
At the time, DevonLive reported the road was closed by police while emergency services attended.
A spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The man was located by officers and whilst carrying out a search officers found a quantity of what is believed to be a Class B drug. The man is then reported to have become aggressive.
“He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and a public order offence and was taken to North Devon District Hospital for treatment for a minor injury.”
