Channel Nine’s Travel Guides has been a hit with viewers since its launch in 2017 and was recently nominated for Best Lifestyle Program at the 2024 Logie Awards.
And the stars of the popular series are now reportedly demanding ‘bigger salaries’ as the show’s success continues to grow.
According to Woman’s Day, the cast are hoping their salaries are increased as they struggle to find work when not filming the show.
An insider explained the program only films for a limited amount of time each year and the stars are forced to negotiate brand deals when not filming.
The source claimed the cast are hoping for an increased salary for the next season after initially signing on for a ‘very small fee’.
They would also reportedly like their contracts to include ‘extended travel time, improved travel expenses and first-class flights’.
The demands come after the show was nominated for Best Lifestyle Program at the 2024 Logie Awards.
Travel Guides will be competing against Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens, ABC’s Gardening Australia and Foxtel’s Love It Or List It Australia.
ABC’s Restoration Australia and Foxtel’s are also up for nomination.
Travel Guides, narrated by comedian Denise Scott, also won the silver Logie for Most Popular Lifestyle Program in 2022.
Sunday night’s episode recorded a total TV national reach of 2,182,000 and a total TV national audience of 530,000.
The episode saw the cast escape to the Cook Islands, in the South Pacific.
The show features Aussie travel critics, including Kevin and Janetta, the Fren family and Doris, Kev and Teng.
Previous seasons have seen the energetic cast flown to Japan, Thailand and New Zealand to present viewers with their unique travel experiences.
