Princess Anne health: Royal’s hospital timeline as ‘slow recovery’ from head injuries continues

Must read

Princess Anne’s hospital stay in the aftermath of her shock head injury on Sunday evening is set to enter its fifth day this evening as the Princess Royal continues her recovery from her run-in with a horse.

Anne had been walking in the bounds of the Gatcombe Park estate, where she’s lived for almost 50 years, when the incident took place late on June 23.

GB News understands that while out and about, the Princess Royal had sustained minor head injuries consistent with those expected from an impact with a horse’s head or legs – and she was rushed to Bristol for medical treatment after emergency services flocked to her country home.

But after royal commentator Duncan Larcombe raised fears to GB News that her condition may be “worse than concussion”, speculation is mounting as to just what’s keeping the princess in hospital.

It was understood on Monday that, subject to medical advice, Anne was expected to be able to return home “later this week” – but as shown, Anne is still at the facility – an NHS hospital which forms part of the service’s North Bristol Trust, and specialises in neuroscience.

Southmead Hospital is also home to the only adult major trauma centre (MTC) in the the Severn Major Trauma Network (SMTN).

In the wake of the news, a nurse who treated Princess Anne in 2016 told the Mail: “The best advice is to keep her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, or one of the children [Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall] on hand… They’re the only people who can tell her to behave.”
