Arsenal get £126m Alexander Isak transfer update after immediate Chelsea twist

Must read

Arsenal have been sent a huge Alexander Isak transfer update in the wake of Chelsea appearing to join the race for his signature. The Gunners have been linked to the Newcastle striker for a number of months but it always seemed a real challenge to agree a transfer considering the hefty asking price.

Mikel Arteta and Edu are looking to strengthen in attack with strong links to Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres emerging alongside Isak. As Newcastle were in danger of breaking profit and sustainability rules, a marquee sale looked as though it was needed before the June 30 deadline.

As a result, hope remained that Arsenal could make a late swoop for the 24-year-old however it could actually be London rivals Chelsea that sign him. According to the Daily Mail, the Blues enquired about the possibility of signing Isak with the Magpies believing he is worth at least double the £63million they paid to Real Sociedad in 2022.

With that in mind, it would require Chelsea to part ways with a minimum of £126million to secure Isak’s services, something that seems very unlikely given their own financial worries. And now it has been clarified that Isak to Chelsea is a ‘non-starter’ and thus the club are not in the market to buy Isak this summer, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph.

Even if Arsenal or Chelsea wanted to sign Isak, the player himself may not be so willing to depart Tyneside given his recent comments about his future. “I’m really, really happy at Newcastle,” he told Fotbollskanalen.
