Great Outfits in Fashion History: Victoria Beckham’s Alluring Asymmetrical Dress

Must read

There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

While Victoria Beckham’s everyday style now favors office-appropriate neutrals, the English pop star and model would once upon a time step out in scandalous and, at times, even colorful looks like this one, worn to the 2000 British Fashion Awards.

At the turn of the millennia, Beckham wore a mostly sheer asymmetrical dress that appeared to drip down her left side. The pink and blue piece is accented by rhinestones in a constellation-like pattern that mimics the night sky, or even the reflection of light on moving water. She completed the look with a toe ring (very Y2K) and a silver bangle on her right wrist, balancing the hemline. Beckham skipped a necklace and earrings, accentuating her pixie cut and the fluid neckline.

Now the creative director of an eponymous renowned ready-to-wear, Beckham has adopted a very different aesthetic — but it’s fun to revisit her ’00s glamour every once in a while. Shop our picks to get the look below.
