Netflix: The streaming giant has hired Johannes Peltola as director of product and live ops at its Next Games studio. He joins from Metacore, where he was game lead. Peltola moved to Metacore after ten years at EA.

Homa: The French publisher has hired Dan Adair as its VP and GM of its hybridcasual business. He joins after nearly eight years at Scopely, latterly as the company’s GM. Adair has previously spent two years at Zynga in product management.

Epic Games: After almost five years at Activision, Madeline Hashem has moved to Epic as senior marketing manager on Fortnite and mobile. At Activision, she worked on Call of Duty Mobile and helped launch Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile earlier this year.

Scopely: As spotted by GamingonPhone, the Saudi-owned developer and publisher has hired Lionel Zajdweber as director of product growth for Star Trek: Fleet Command. He joins with a wealth of experience in marketing, having worked at the likes of Nimble, Gameloft and Warner Media.

Sunday: The developer and publisher has brought in Christian Balazs as its new director of games. Balazs says he has been brought in to help the firm’s transition from hypercasual to hybridcasual. Over his career, Balazs has worked at the likes of Goodgame Studio, Outfit7 and Sybo.

Kolibri Games: The German idle games specialist has hires Grégoire Guerlais as game lead and product manager. He has worked in the industry since 2018 when he worked in brand marketing at Ubisoft, and later Green Panda Games.

Sandsoft: The Saudi publisher has made three new hires in Fousiya Saleem, Maria Platas and Arsenii Dudinov. Saleem comes on board as a data scientist for the company’s Riyadh studio following a stint at Savvy Games-owned Nine66. Platas has been hired at Sandsoft’s Barcelona studio as data analyst, joining from Scopely, and Dudinov joins the company’s Barcelona studio from Zeptolab as a project manager.

Ubisoft: Julien Cuny has returned to the French publishing giant for the third time. He’s now VP of product and portfolio strategy, joining after six years away at Google and then Tencent. Cuny initially worked at Ubisoft between 2005 and 2013, starting off in marketing and ending up as head of content for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Then from 2016-to-2018, he spent two years as a product director working on Watch Dogs Legion and Far Cry 6.

Rovio: The Angry Birds maker has promoted Ann-Marie Pelkonen to head of performance marketing. She has worked at Rovio since 2013, when she joined as a junior licensing coordinator before moving into marketing as associate director for performance marketing.

BBC Studios: PocketGamer.biz reports that Marina Mello has joined the broadcaster as its first ever global director for gaming and interactive. This follows over eight-and-a-half-years at London-based developer Bossa Studios, where she most recently worked as chief commercial officer.

Unity: As we reported last week, SVP and CMO Carol Carpenter has resigned from the company, and will leave by the end of the year. She follows Marc Whitten out the door, as well as all of Ironsource’s founders. 

Former Xbox veteran Larry Hryb, meanwhile, has been appointed director of community for the engine maker. This comes hot on the heels of an almost 23-year-long career at Microsoft, most famously as senior director of corporate comms for its games business. 

Roblox: The Verge reports that Xbox’s chief marketing officer Jerret West is leaving the company to join Roblox as CMO and head of market expnasion. West’s four-and-a-half year stint at Microsoft was actually his second at the company; he previously spent eight years at the Xbox giant, leaving in 2011 to join American Express, before spending seven years at Netflix.
