‘Announcement wasn’t clear at all’ says shopper

Another shopper says the “announcement wasn’t clear at all” amid scenes of panic.
“We headed straight to the cinemas and we were waiting in the queue and suddenly staff were saying ‘We need to move, we need to move’,” they said.
“We didn’t (know) what happened…It wasn’t clear what happened.”
‘Run, run!’: Witness recalls mass evacuation

ABC reporter Matthew Smith has interviewed a woman caught up in the evacuation.
She was watching a movie in the shopping centre when she heard an emergency alert.
“All of a sudden everyone just came running in, just sprinting incoming yelling” run, run!” she said.
“We had no idea it was a drill or something was happening.”
Two people injured, says SA Ambulance Service spokesperson

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) says its treating two patients.
The service is treating a women in her 70s with a shoulder injury, and a person in their 30s with a knee injury, a SAAS spokesperson said.
Injuries for both patients are non life-threatening.

ABC reporter says there’s ‘plenty of streets blocked off’

ABC reporter Matthew Smith said there are currently “plenty of flashing lights, plenty of streets blocked off” surrounding the centre.
He said spoke to a lady who was going to an optometrist when the evacuation order was made.
“She said they were asked to go out and she stayed there and has had her appointment and now has left the building,” he said.
ABC reporter speaks of ‘confusion’ amid evacuation

ABC reporter Matthew Smith has spoken following the reports of a disturbance.
Smith said there were signs put up within Westfield Marion alerting shoppers of the evacuation.
“I did speak to one Myer employee just five minutes ago who said she was ushered out of the building, however she still has staff inside,” he told ABC News Channel.
“She says they are safe but the details are very sketchy about what has gone on. A lot of confusion.”
Police are set to speak to the media at 5.30pm with more details.
Numerous patrols are attending the scene and police have urged the public to avoid the area.
The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) has told the ABC that paramedics are treating two patients for non life-threatening injuries.
A woman in her 70s has suffered a shoulder injury and a person in their 30s has suffered a knee injury, SAAS said.
SAAS said one of the patients is being transferred to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.
Authorities have erected fences around the shopping centre.
