The Yemeni armed forces have for the first time released footage of a drone boat and its strike on a sea target amid Yemen’s months-long maritime operations against Israeli shipping in support of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The video published by the media bureau of Yemen’s Operations Command Center on Saturday showed “Tempest 1” with a warhead weighing 150 kilograms and a speed of 35 nautical miles per hour.

Boasting high speed and ability in maneuvering and stealth, the Yemeni drone boat is designed for fixed and mobile near targets.

Yemen’s military released on Wednesday the video of its recent attack on the vessel “Tutor” belonging to Evalend Shipping Co. S.A., a Greek company, using weapons such as drone boats.

The footage showed the vessel being struck by two drone boats while sailing in the Red Sea, which resulted in its sinking.

Explosions near ship off Yemen: Report

Britain’s maritime safety agency, UKMTO, reported on explosions near a ship east of the Yemeni port city of Aden on Friday.

The agency, which did not identify the vessel, said the ship was able to continue its journey and “the crew are reported safe.”

UKMTO provided no further details on the maritime incident.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, after the territory’s Palestinian resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

Yemeni Armed Forces have said that they won’t stop their attacks until unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza end.

Israel has killed at least 37,551 people and wounded 85,911 others in Gaza since October last year.
