Luka Modric walks out of interview after one question seemed to annoy him

Must read

Luka Modric did not seem at all impressed with a question that was fired his way away Croatia’s 2-2 draw against Albania.

The Real Madrid midfielder looked visibly annoyed as he swept out of an interview at Euro 2024 without giving a response.

Modric‘s side conceded in the 95th minute, having already come from behind, to ensure the points were shared in Hamburg.

Croatia had already suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat to Spain in their first group game, meaning they have taken just one point from their games so far.

Their chances of progressing to the knockout stages now rest on a knife edge, and they will likely have to win against Italy in their match on Monday 24 June at 8pm, live on talkSPORT, to make it through.

And while Modric appeared content with answering a number of questions from reporters after the game, there was one in particular which proved to be too much.

One reporter decided to quiz the 38-year-old on their upcoming fixture against Italy, asking him whether it would be the younger or older players who fight for a win in the final game.

But alas, the journalist was to receive no answer.

Modric had a very displeased expression on his face even as he listened to the reporter’s question.

He then wrinkled his nose and paused for a moment, before gesturing to the exit and declaring: ‘Come on, let’s go.’

The Croatian skipper then swiftly exited the room without a backwards glance.

He is not the first star at Euro 2024 to snub an interviewer after a disappointing result either, with Belgium’s Kevin de Bruyne making a similar exit after his side’s 1-0 loss to Slovakia.

But like Belgium, Croatia’s squad seem to have declined in quality after a number of years of marked success.

Despite becoming runners-up at the 2018 World Cup and earning a bronze medal at the 2022 edition in Qatar, the side are now looking shaky indeed.

They are in danger of crashing out in the group stages of the Euros for the first time since 2012, although the fact that the four best third-placed teams in each group also make the knockouts could give them an extra lifeline.
