Glastonbury 2024 weather: Latest festival forecast

Must read

With less than a week to go, a mix of sunny spells and light rain are currently forecast for this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The gates will swing open at Worthy Farm on Wednesday, with revellers looking forward to a line-up headlined by Coldplay, SZA and Dua Lipa.

On Wednesday, festival-goers may be pleased to know sunny intervals, temperatures of 25C and a gentle breeze are currently forecast.

But music lovers are advised to take the current forecast with a pinch of salt, as there is still uncertainty in predictions for the Glastonbury period.

Light rain is currently set to make an appearance on Thursday, before conditions are forecast to dry up by midday on Saturday, according to the BBC weather forecast,

Light cloud, sunny spells and temperatures in the low 20Cs are then anticipated for the final run of the festival.

But Ian Fergusson, BBC West’s weather forecaster, urged people to take current forecasts with a pinch of salt.

He said: “There’s uncertainty in the forecast for the Glastonbury period and, as such, solutions from weather apps or automated online forecasts should presently be treated with considerable caution.

“A period of increasingly warm, settled weather will develop into early next week, but its longevity is currently open to doubt.

“It could wane from around Wednesday onwards as low pressure then becomes more dominant.

“However, exactly how things unfold – and the resultant temperatures and shower risk day-to-day at Worthy Farm – are subject to low forecast confidence at the present time.”

With UV levels currently forecast to be high on Wednesday, revellers are advised to take measures to protect themselves from the sun.

The Met Office said anyone walking around in the hot weather should seek shade, apply sunscreen and wear a wide-brimmed hat.

It particularly recommends keeping out of the sun during the hours of 11.00 and 15.00 BST when UV rays are strongest, drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding excess alcohol.

Athough taking a cool shower is not always possible at a festival, sprinkling yourself with cool water at regular intervals can also help keep you cool.
