Huddersfield-based company, Park Valley, says its proposals for new commercial units on land off Blackmoorfoot Road could provide 260 jobs.
The scheme, known as Crosland Court, could deliver around 14 small to medium sized commercial units to allow local businesses space if they need to expand.
The brownfield development site is in Crosland Moor and is a disused former caravan sales and accessory centre with additional open land.
It is bounded to the north by Greystone and Mason Court and to the south by Blackmoorfoot Road.
Park Valley Huddersfield Ltd has launched a public consultation on its plans for the commercial development. It is an established local business which already owns and manages Park Valley Court business park on the B6108 Meltham Road in Huddersfield.
Park Valley Court supports over 250 workers across a range of companies. Current businesses based there include ValvePro Ltd, The Cycle Division Ltd, and Foodmate Ltd.
Martin Duckett, from Park Valley Huddersfield, said: “There is significant unfulfilled demand for high quality commercial space for small and medium-sized businesses who want to expand and secure their future locally.
“Crosland Court would bring this unused brownfield site back to life and our proposals are sensitively designed to respect the surrounding areas. Feedback from our public consultation will help inform these exciting proposals.”
Backers of the plans include technology company Wayland Additive, which is based at Park Valley Court and currently employs over 60 people.
A spokesman for Wayland Additive said: “As a growing Huddersfield-based business, we want to expand and create more jobs locally, so these proposals for Crosland Court will allow us to do this.”
A public drop-in exhibition will take place on 26 June at Crosland Moor Community Learning Centre between 3.30pm and 7pm. Residents will be able to find out more about the plans.
Following the consultation, a planning application will be lodged with Kirklees Council and a decision is expected later this year.
