Martin Lewis has warned travellers to be careful where they shop if they are heading abroad soon.
In his latest Martin Lewis’ Blog on moneysavingexpert.com, its founder told travellers you can save money by doing your shopping at a specific time. The financial expert warned people: “If you’re one of the millions planning a trip to Spain at some point this summer, stop shopping at Zara right now.”
The reason for this is that the giant Spanish fashion brand sells clothes in its native country – and you can get it much cheaper than in the UK. Because of this, he urges people to wait.
The blog post was originally written in 2014 and updated this week with the latest details.
Showing a price comparison of prices from Zara in Spain, France, Greece and Italy, items such as blazers, dresses and some kids clothes are all far cheaper. And often you’ll see a price difference of £30.
Discussing the table, which you can view here, he explains: “So from this small sample, it shows that on average prices are 31 percent cheaper in Spain and Greece than the UK, 14 percent cheaper in France and Italy.”
Martin Lewis adds: “The price difference is enormous. The pound price is often higher than the euro price before you even convert the currency (which further cheapens the euro price).”
