The countdown is on for the release of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. The highly-anticipated Elden Ring DLC has a June 21 release date and – according to the PlayStation Store listing – a midnight UK launch time. However, in the run up to the release of the Shadow of the Erdtree add-on, fans will need to take care of some business before they can play the DLC. In a FromSoftware post on X (formerly Twitter), the Elden Ring developer announced plans to release a new update, which will launch alongside a period of server downtime. This means you won’t be able to play Elden Ring multiplayer until server maintenance is concluded.
FromSoftware plans to take the game offline for maintenance at 8am BST UK time on the morning of June 20.
The servers will be offline for approximately three hours, which means you can’t play multiplayer until 11am BST UK time.
While multiplayer will be unavailable during the downtime, you will be able to download a new update, which makes various quality of life improvements, all the while adding new features.
“An update to the ELDEN RING base game & a day one patch for Shadow of the Erdtree will be distributed on 6/20,” reads a FromSoftware post.
“The update includes bug fixes, balance adjustements & some new features.”
In terms of new features, the update will add new hairstyles, new menu tabs for recently collected items, plus new summoning pool features.
