Meghan sparks furious backlash after huge blunder – ‘Never cared about protocol’

Must read

Meghan Markle has come under fire after the ill-timed release of the latest batch of products she will soon be selling under her new brand.

The Duchess of Sussex had some of the items sent to friends, with Prince Harry’s close pal Nacho Figueras quickly turning to social media to promote the product.

However, his raving review of Meghan’s raspberry jam and dog biscuits came out only hours before Trooping the Colour – sparking accusations the Duchess wanted to steal the spotlight from the Royal Family.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “Meghan and Harry know perfectly well every single thing they do is monitored by the press.”

Speaking to The Sun, he argued the couple “never cared” about protocol and snubbed a key rule in royal communications.

Mr Fitzwilliams insisted the Duke and Duchess should have ensured that “you don’t have a diary clash.”

He added: “Meghan would not have been advised to do this by any of her public relations consultants. This is something of a joke.”

But PR expert Lynn Carratt noted the Duchess of Sussex could not have known when Mr Figueras intended to post his review of her American Riviera Orchard products.

Ms Carratt said: “She didn’t have any control over when Nacho would post them. And it didn’t overshadow anything.”

The raspberry jam is the second in a line of preserves Meghan is set to launch once the brand’s new website goes live.

She previously shared an exclusive batch of 50 jars of strawberry jam with close friends and influencers.

The dog biscuits, held in a small jar with a handwritten label, are thought to be a new addition to the items Meghan is planning to sell.

Mr Figueras’s Instagram post came only hours before the King stepped out under the rain to mark his official birthday with senior members of the Royal Family.

The event also marked the first time since the start of the year Kate has been in public as she has been taking time away from her official duties to undergo preventative cancer treatment.
