Premier League fixture release day is here and Manchester United have discovered how their season will play out.

The Red Devils will be under pressure to make a fast start next term, having endured a miserable second campaign under Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has kept his job despite the major overhaul new controlling co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has conducted since taking charge.

Ten Hag has the chance to put any doubts over him to bed early on, with United to kick-off the entire top-flight campaign when they host Fulham on 16 August. They follow that up with a trip to Brighton, who have just appointed Fabian Hürzeler as their new manager.

The first serious test will come in round three when Ten Hag’s side host Liverpool, who themselves are under the new management of Arne Slot. After that tough test, United travel to recently promoted Southampton.

One date that will be eyed is 23 November, when United will travel to Ipswich and face former coach Kieran McKenna. Their first clash against expected title challenger Arsenal will be over the weekend of 3 December.

That kicks off what could be a difficult Christmas, with the first Manchester derby of the season against Manchester City on 14 December. Three days after a Boxing Day visit to Wolves, they will host Newcastle.

Their first game of the New Year will then be a trip to Anfield, where they have not won since January 2016. The return clash against fierce rivals City will come on 5 April, three weeks after the visit of Arsenal.

Ten Hag will then face a tough run-in that starts with a trip to Brentford. After hosting West Ham, United will travel down to Chelsea, before concluding their season with a clash against Aston Villa, who secured a top four place last term.
