As thousands of fans head to Cardiff for the mega Taylor Swift gig at the Principality Stadium we will be monitoring the M4, routes into Cardiff and public transport. At 2.50pm there were 45-minute delays heading westbound around the Brynglas Tunnels.
Fans are being warned to “expect delays” on the road network on Tuesday afternoon. Traffic Wales is warning anyone heading to the city for Tuesday night’s gig to “allow extra time” for their journeys, especially on the M4.
The warning comes after drivers experienced 19 miles of tailbacks on the M4 when Pink played at the Principality Stadium last week, and two years ago some fans missed the Ed Sheeran gig when they got stuck in three-hour delays.
Hundreds of fans were already in the city on Tuesday morning, but thousands more are expected to travel during the day on Tuesday.
There had been disruption on train lines into the city, but the Rhymney line has now re-opened and delays are expected to clear.

Avoid Cardiff’s Rover Way
In Cardiff, there are delays on a main road because a vehicle has been abandoned.
Rover Way is partially blocked in both directions and there is queueing traffic due to abandoned vehicle between Seawall Road and Tesco.

40-minute delays on the M4
Traffic monitoring system Inrix is now showing that there are 40-minute delays on the M4.
The main congestion area is heading westbound at the Brynglas Tunnels.

How to get to Cardiff by train
Just some reminders for people heading to the city by train.
Transport for Wales will be providing additional capacity where possible on routes in/out of Cardiff on Tuesday June 18th, but trains are expected to be very busy, so please allow plenty of time for your journey.
Post-event queues for mainline rail services will be on Central Square and queues for Valleys services will be to the rear of the station. Cardiff Queen Street will close at 9.30pm except for accessible access and passengers that wish to travel to Cardiff Bay.

Reduction in M4 congestion
Congestion time on the M4 around the Brynglas Tunnels has actually decreased.
There were 25 minute delays earlier but traffic monitors on the motorway are now showing that has been reduced to 10 minutes.
