The coincidental timing of Meghan Markle’s new line of jam being showcased on the same day Kate, Princess of Wales made a one-off appearance at Trooping the Colour 2024 has been defended.
Following the initial release of her jam, it was revealed Meghan has new products including a new batch of raspberry jam alongside some luxury dog biscuits.
Just hours before the Trooping the Colour event in London, it was revealed that American Riviera Orchard would be expanding its product list as Harry and Meghan’s friend, Nacho Figueras, took to Instagram to share new pictures.
The posed pictures included the new jam and dog biscuits, which were both presented in glass containers. Although critics have questioned the timing in which Meghan’s products were displayed on social media, a source has told The Daily Beast this was not Meghan’s order or decision.
The source claimed: “While I am sure the gift packages came with notes requesting social media coverage, you can’t tell Nacho Figueras what to do, so I think it’s certain the timing of his post was his own idea.”
The source continued: “The larger point here is that the American Riviera Orchard campaign has been phenomenally successful and cost Meghan nothing.
“It is a text book social media campaign. The only problem is that there still seems to be nothing actually for sale, so what is it all for? I guess we will find out.”
Following the release of her brand, American Riviera Orchard, Meghan sent jars of strawberry jam to 50 close friends and influencers, including Chrissy Teigen, fashion designer Tracy Robbins and socialite Delfina Blaquier.
Although it is still in its early days, the new development is a sign that more is to come and that an official launch is on the way.
It appears that polo player, Nacho, was presented with just one of two jam jars made, with the label stating ‘2 of 2’. With the announcement of the new venture earlier this year, the absence of its official launch to date has set tongues wagging, with speculation Meghan is struggling to find the right staff.
Abesi Manyando, author and founder of the public relations and branding development firm Abesi PR, told Express.co.uk even when brands issue teasers, they may not release for up to a year later.
She added: “Meghan’s global popularity continues to increase especially in America and Africa despite royal experts’ criticism.”
The upload comes as the Princess of Wales, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, made her first public appearance on the same day, June 15, at Trooping the Colour. The royal, 42, was joined by her three children, Prince Geroge, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Her attendance had been in doubt, as Kate kept a low profile since bravely telling the world that she had been diagnosed with cancer, but before the event she shared a deeply moving personal statement where she confirmed her attendance.
Kate revealed she has “good days and bad days” undergoing gruelling chemotherapy for cancer but acknowledges she’s “not out of the woods yet”.
Kate, who bravely revealed her cancer diagnosis in March, explains the treatment can leave her feeling “weak and tired” on occasions. But when she is well enough she can focus on the things that give her joy and reveals she has started “to do a little work from home”.
While she will not be returning to duties full-time, Kate does now feel well enough to undertake a small number of public engagements this summer.
