Queen Camilla had a “major worry” during King Charles’ official birthday parade, claims a former royal butler. Members of the Royal Family came together to mark the King’s official birthday with the annual Trooping the Colour Parade on Saturday.
Showcasing the best of military pageantry, Camilla was firmly by the reigning monarch’s side as he took part in the procession seated in a horse-drawn carriage. The modified change to usual proceedings comes as Charles continues to undergo treatment for his cancer.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, former butler Grant Harrold said: “The King would have enjoyed today’s events and that they have gotten through it. I noticed that Camilla got a bit worried about the weather.
“But they are a good team and work well together just like William and Catherine and it reminds me of the late Queen and Prince Philip.”
But the Gold State Coach sheltered the monarchs from the rain as they rode down The Mall past spectators who had gathered in their thousands outside in the wet weather on Saturday.
The Royal Air Force did contemplate calling off the flypast if bad weather continued, but conditions cleared in time. On X, the branch said: “Today at 1pm, subject to weather, serviceability, & operational requirements, over 30 aircraft will take to the skies above London and over Buckingham Palace to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Official Birthday following the King’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour).”
Princess Charlotte also did her best amid the heavy rain during a carriage ride from Horse Guards Parade back to Buckingham Palace. The rain pouring down caused the carriages’ windows to become steam up, making it impossible for the public to see the young royals waving at them.
As the carriage approached the Queen Victoria Memorial outside of Buckingham Palace, she wiped the fog off the glass with her hand. The nine-year-old could be seen smiling while cleaning out the window with the help of her doting mum Princess Kate.
Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, all looked delighted to be a part of the King’s birthday parade – it had been unclear whether the youngsters would attend this year, as their mother Princess Kate continues to undergo cancer treatment.
Kate’s last public appearance was on Christmas Day last year and many experts had questioned whether George, Charlotte, and Louis would attend without either parent joining them in a carriage.
