Administrators have sold a West Midlands-based truck repair business after a staff exodus saw it on the verge of collapse

Robert Dymond and Craig Povey of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators of Oldbury truck repair business RMB Commercials on May 21.

A sale of RMB Commercials meant that all the company’s 45 employees were subject to TUPE and there were no redundancies.

Dymond said: “In the 12 months to February, one of RMB Commercials’ largest customers appointed eight of the company’s mechanics and its operations manager, leaving the business unable to fulfil its biggest contracts.

“The resulting difficulty in recruiting, as well as the time needed to train new mechanics, dealt RMB Commercials a huge blow. Its profit took a hit and despite efforts from the directors to turn things around they are unable to continue to trade profitably with the debt burden the company now has.”
