RACHEL REEVES today will claim that Labour would create 650,000 new jobs across the country through its national wealth fund.
The announcement comes as Labour prepares to put the shadow chancellor at the centre of their media profile over the week, emphasising the stern Ms Reeves as the responsible alternative to Tory chaos.
“The next Labour government will work hand in hand with the private sector to bring investment to Britain’s industrial heartlands and I have been clear that our national wealth fund will be a crucial tool in the armoury to deliver on this ambition,“ Ms Reeves said in an attempt to stop any drift of Labour voters towards Reform in “left-behind” industrial areas.
A Labour government is scheduled to invest £7.3 billion in the new fund which is aimed at “making Britain better off, with good jobs paying a decent wage being created right across the United Kingdom,” she said.
