‘Best value’ but little-known ‘game-changing’ Oodie at lowest price

Must read

With warm weather incoming, wintry hooded blanket brand Oodie has launched a huge sale offering up to £50 off some of their bestsellers.

But of all their range, which not only includes the original fluffy blankets in a huge range of colours and designs including collaborations with Pokemon, Disney, Star Wars, Fortnite ad more but has expanded to include Outdoor Oodies , Towelling Oodies , romper suits and even flip flops, only one can be worn year-round – and fans of the brand are flagging that as the reason it’s a must-buy.

Shopping writer and Oodie enthusiast Narin Flanders, writing in The Mirror , explained why their innovative sleep tee, which is currently up to £40 off in the huge summer sale , is an often-overlooked essential.

In her review she explained: “I am a huge fan of my Oodie. Inspired at the start of the cost of living crisis by Martin Lewis’ advice to ‘heat the person not the home,’ I bought myself a plush blue one to help combat the urge to turn the heating on during the day while working from home and, despite its premium price tag, I found it worth every penny. It’s a permanent autumn and winter staple and has been joined by a Mickey Mouse festive Oodie I picked up for £29 in the sale to add a bit of Christmas cheer to the grey winter.

“But in terms of cost-per-wear, I would argue that Oodie’s best-value product is actually one that many shoppers haven’t yet cottoned on to. Their Sleep Tees are huge comfortable and similiarly shaped versions of their plush wintry staples, but made in a bamboo cotton blend that makes for frankly game-changing sleepwear.”

As a Disney fan, Narin picked up a cute blue tie dyed Stitch Sleep Oodie which quickly, she says, has become her favourite thing to sleep in. She explains: “The joy of the sleep Oodie comes from the fact that the bamboo fibres allow a kind of temperature regulation I hadn’t really considered in sleepwear before.

“I have bamboo wicking workout gear but never really considered that the thermo-regulating properties that cool me down while exercising also makes it the perfect fabric for nightwear, helping keep you cool in summer but warm in winter.

“My Stitch Sleep Oodie is generously sized but thanks to the weight of the fabric hangs really nicely and comfortably so, despite it being baggy I don’t end up tangled in it in bed as I sleep, no matter how much I move around. It’s comfortable, the perfect length for lounging around in and basically the best nightshirt I’ve ever owned.

“The bamboo fibres make it perfect for changing temperatures in your bedroom. Previously I’ve gone to bed cosy because we’ve had a blast of heating just before bedtime but then woken in the night freezing as the temperature has dropped and my PJs aren’t warm enough. The bamboo cotton allows your body to adjust as the heat in the room dissipates, meaning I’m sleeping through and remaining cosy until morning.”

The shape and size of the sleep tees will be familiar to anyone who has worn one of the brand’s fleecy versions, although the kangaroo style pocket is replaced with two generous side pockets instead.

While its usual RRP is between £79 and £99 depending on the design you choose, Narin recommends buying a sleep tee when it’s reduced to a similar to price to other quality pyjamas as, for example, if you pick up one of the ones reduced to £24 in the sale that works out at a similar price to buying a nightshirt at M&S . She added: “It’s definitely worth spending the money on, not least because it lasts year-round and, unlike the traditional Oodie, won’t need to be put in the cupboard come spring when the weather gets warmer.”

Bamboo nightwear is definitely on trend and there are some premium brands that are offering PJs in the fabric. But suddenly full price sleep tees are looking more reasonable, with Cozy Earth’s posh PJs coming in at more than £100 a pair.
