A Huddersfield man has been charged after allegedly being seen with a knife outside a towns shopping centre.
Rabez Hamed, 45, of Tolson Crescent, Huddersfield, was due to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court today following the incident in which a man was allegedly seen with a weapon outside the Ringway Shopping Centre at about 9.30am on Thursday, June 13.
A man had been seen by shoppers holding a knife and alerted West Yorkshire Police. When they got to the scene, they chased the suspect and arrested him. Mr Hamed remains in police custody.

He is facing charges of two possession of weapons offences, and possession of Class A drugs. A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to the Ringway Shopping Centre at about 9.30am on June 13, to a report a man had been seen outside retail premises with a bladed weapon.
“Officers attended, chased and then arrested a male who was taken into custody. Nobody was harmed in the incident.”
