Downpours Cause Travel Chaos in Miami

Must read

Tropical thunderstorms brought “catastrophic and life-threatening” flash flooding, causing travel chaos in south-eastern Florida on June 12.

Florida Governor Ron de Santis declared a state of emergency on Wednesday afternoon, detailing that ongoing downpours had inundated major interstate and local roadways, airports and other critical infrastructure.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said that 10-15 inches of rain had fallen in some areas, on Wednesday alone. The NWS urged residents to get to higher ground and stay off roads.

Meanwhile, road agencies warned that sections of major roadways, including Interstate 95, had become completely impassable.
