Police stopped two vehicles on Wednesday morning to inspect them for ‘roadworthiness’.
The drivers were stopped on the approach to Hermiston Gait Retail Park when officers, together with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency officials and Motor Insurers’ Bureau, checked their vehicles.
The drivers were found to have committed multiple offences – including no insurance, MOT, insecure load, careless driving and mobile phone offences.
Edinburgh Road Police posted on the social media platform X: “#EdinburghRP together with DVSA and MIB stopped vehicles on the approach to Hermiston Gait Retail Park and inspected them for roadworthiness.

“Throughout their time there they detected insurance, MOT, insecure load, careless driving and mobile phone offences.”
They posted pictures of the vehicles in question which included a tow truck and a small digger.
The drivers could be facing multiple fines and points. It comes as officers continue to crack down on road crime throughout Edinburgh.
In the UK, you can be fined up to £1,000 for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT. If found guilty of using a mobile phone while driving, you can get six penalty points on your licence and a £200 fine.
