Actress, comedian and writer Ruby Wax has released a humorous, yet foul-mouthed, video of her searching for her ‘family tartan.’
Posted on TikTok, ‘The Full Wax’ star was spotted at the bottom of Victoria Street at the Grassmarket as she talked to the camera about her struggles in securing a ‘McWax’ tartan.
To her dismay she was not able to find it but did say that she was in her ‘favourite part of the world’ in Scotland where she once taught drama.

However she did make a major faux pas by attributing her slight English twang to spending time in the Scottish capital – something that is sure to irk certain locals.
In her post, which has been viewed almost 30,000 times, she said: “So for some reason I’m in Edinburgh, not doing the festival, just shopping for tartan, looking for my tartan, the MC waxes and nobody’s f***ing got it, not a kilt, not a jacket, not a sporran.
“So here I am in my favourite part of the world, Scotland, where I taught drama. And so that’s why I have the English accent I have today.”
Ruby was in the capital as part of her UK tour ‘I’m not as well as I thought’ and there were plenty of locals who were happy to see her back in the capital.

A business even offered to sort Ruby out with her own tartan, saying: “Hey, if you visit Edinburgh tailoring company we can make you a jacket with the McWax tartan.”
And Ruby is not the only visitor to the capital who has earmarked it as their favourite place, with one person adding: “Enjoy ruby. It’s my favourite place to visit.”
