Here’s what Macs will run the new macOS 15, which is to be unveiled at WWDC 2024.
This year a leaker known to AppleInsider to be usually accurate, has said that all currently-supported Macs will be able to run macOS 15. If a Mac is able to run the current macOS Sonoma, then it will run the new version too.
That includes Intel Macs, or at least all of those with a T2 security processor, even though Apple has been moving away from Intel since its launch of Apple Silicon in 2020. The last remaining Intel Mac on sale was the Mac Pro, which was replaced by an Apple Silicon model in 2023.
At some point, even that Intel Mac Pro will no longer be able to run the latest macOS. But for now, it appears that Apple will continue to support Intel-based Macs for at least another year.
In 2023 with macOS Sonoma, for instance, there were five key features that did not come to Intel Macs. Those included the ability to say “Siri” instead of “Hey, Siri,” and effects such as the Presenter Overlay that can now be used in video calls.
