Bungie Announces Destiny 2 Codename Frontiers is Coming 2025

Must read

Bungie released a new “journey ahead” trailer today, announcing that Destiny 2 Codename Frontiers will arrive in 2025.

The trailer does not confirm an exact release date for Frontiers. Instead, it simply teases that “the journey continues.” So, that remains the biggest reveal for Year 11 today.

However, the new Destiny 2 trailer also reveals new footage for Year 10 episodes. These will include Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy.

Bungie showcased gameplay and concept art alongside developer narration. However, much of the footage added a disclaimer that it remains in-progress, and it is still subject to change.

Following a delay that lasted months, Bungie finally released Destiny 2’s The Final Shape DLC last week. It is the culmination of years of storytelling, an epic conclusion for the Light and Darkness saga.

Surprisingly, Sony itself appeared to leak The Final Shape content early, including the entire campaign.

The Final Shape DLC ultimately earned decent ratings, and currently holds a 7.2 user score on Metacritic. It adds new collections, weapons, story, and more.

Recent rumors from April 2024 suggest that Bungie could be working on Destiny 3 under the codename Payback. Paul Tassi of Forbes commented on an old, notable post from Reddit, though Tassi did not confirm the rumor outright.

Just weeks ago, Bungie also won a key lawsuit against cheat provider Phoenix Digital.
