Diogo Jota has named his all-time best eleven of players he’s played alongside at both club and international level.

Jota has shared the pitch with an array of stars both for Liverpool and Portugal.

Ahead of Euro 2024, Jota was faced with the difficult task of choosing his greatest ever team-mates. The 27-year-old ended up selecting five current Liverpool players as well as picking himself.

However, there was one significant omission as a key former Liverpool star was left out of the 27-year-old’s line-up.

Jota chose Alisson in goal, with four other Liverpool players making the cut in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgin van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah.

There are also five Portugal players in the team – Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Neves, Bernardo Silva and, unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perhaps Jota’s most controversial selection is that he has included himself in the side ahead of former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, who made himself a club legend as a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s all-conquering side.

He crossed over with the Senegal star for two seasons at Anfield, though picking himself above Salah or Ronaldo would have been more controversial, added to the fact that Jota, like Mane plays on the left.

Mane is now at Al-Nassr following a disastrous spell at Bayern Munich and has regained some of his old form, scoring 13 times in 32 games.

Another key omission was that of Portugal and Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes, but Jota simply picked his team in the video without elaborating or explaining his selections or those who missed out.

Since signing for Liverpool in 2020, Jota has played 145 games for the club and has scored 56 goals.

Jota is part of a talent-packed Portugal squad at the Euros this summer and will have to compete with Rafael Leao for a place on the left flank.

If the Liverpool poacher can stay fit, he may well have a decisive say in how far Roberto Martinez’s men go in Germany in the coming weeks.
