Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood ‘agrees’ future transfer

Must read

Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood has reportedly agreed to join Juventus this summer.

Greenwood had been on loan in Spain since deadline day last August but has since returned to Old Trafford. He was suspended by United in January 2022 amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

A lengthy investigation into the case then followed, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropping all charges against Greenwood in February 2023. A United statement at the time read: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”

The 22-year-old made 36 appearances this season scoring ten goals and notching up six assists in the process. MEN Sport understands the working assumption at Old Trafford is that Greenwood will be sold permanently this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve are the frontrunner to sign the Englishman with United believed to be ready to shake hands on a fee in the region of £30m for the winger. It is believed Greenwood is keen on the move to Turin but the Serie A club are still keen to lower his price tag.

Juventus apparently wish to offer left-wingers Samuel Iling-Junior or Federico Chiesa as makeweights for the deal. Iling-Junior made 27 appearances for his club this season but the 20-year-old contributed just one goal and two assists.

Meanwhile, Chiesa bagged ten goals and three assists in 37 appearances. The 26-year-old’s form has seen him called up to Italy’s European Championship squad this summer.
