THEY are the famous faces that greet us every morning with breaking news and stories from around the world.
Many of our favourite breakfast news presenters are handsomely paid for their services but some still manage to find themselves in financial difficulty.
On Monday, BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt was revealed to be facing the threat of bankruptcy after being served a petition by HMRC.
The star, who joined the show in 2006, and his wife Anne’s TV and broadcasting firm Stayt Limited was listed as being £6,409 in the red, in accounts filed in December.
Charlie is paid up to £194,999 a year at the BBC and has a four-bedroom home in Twickenham, South West London, worth £2.3million.
Since The Sun’s exclusive broke about Charlie’s alleged financial difficulties, the presenter has returned to TV screens.
He hosted a live segment from Normandy as part of a D-Day anniversary segment and has not publically addressed the bankruptcy claims.
While Charlie appears to be facing financial problems, other breakfast TV presenters are sitting on vast fortunes – here we report their staggering and surprising net worths.
