London travel news LIVE: Severe delays on Circle and District lines after casualty on track

There are severe delays on the Circle and District lines on Thursday afternoon following a casualty on the track.

The Circle Line was completely suspended as emergency services responded to the incident, but had reopened with delays by around 2.20pm.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Gloucester Road underground station at around 11.13am today (6 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, and a person was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries.”

London Overground is also facing severe delays between Stratford and Gospel Oak due to an earlier faulty train.

It comes after a woman was rushed to hospital following a collision involving a car and a lorry on Chalk Farm Road.

The crash led to the closure of the A502 Chalk Farm Road Northbound from Hawley Crescent to Camden Lock Place, and buses were diverted.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth line commuters travelling through east London are facing disruption for the whole of Thursday.

A speed restriction is in place over defective track at Ilford.

The issue is causing severe delays on the Elizabeth line between Shenfield and Paddington, according to TfL.

Elizabeth Line hit with delays

Good morning. Elizabeth Line trains running between Heathrow to Gidea Park in east London face disruption all day because of a defective track at Ilford.

The issue means trains have to run a reduced speed on some lines, with National Rail warning passengers of possible cancellations or delays of up to ten minutes.

TfL said there were minor delays on the line between Paddington and Shenfield over the track fault.
