Queueing traffic at the Tyne Tunnel

There is now queueing traffic at the Tyne Tunnel in both directions.

The travel time on the A19 Northbound at Jarrow is 20 minutes.

The travel time on the A19 Southbound at Howdon is 10 minutes.

Slow traffic at both ends of the Tyne Tunnel

  • There is slow traffic on A19 Northbound at the Tyne Tunnel at Jarrow, South Tyneside. Travel time is 15 minutes.
  • There is also slow traffic on A19 Southbound at the Tyne Tunnel in Howdon, North Tyneside.

How is it looking on the A1?

There is currently slow traffic on the A19 at A189 / A1171 / B1505 (Moor Farm Roundabout).

Metro operating a ‘frequent service’ to all destinations

Tyne and Wear Metro say they are operating a frequent service to all destinations.

They have urged customers to check the Pop App for the latest train times and service updates.

How is it looking at the Felling Bypass?

There is the usual slow traffic on A184 Felling Bypass Westbound in Gateshead around A185 / B1426 Shields Road (Heworth traffic lights).

There is slow traffic on A19 Northbound at the Tyne Tunnel in Jarrow, South Tyneside.

Travel time is 15 minutes.

Slow traffic near the Angel of the North

There is also the usual slow traffic on A1 Western Bypass Northbound around the A167 Angel Of The North coming from Chester-le-Street.

Slow traffic at the Tyne Bridge

There is currently slow traffic on A167 in both directions at the Tyne Bridge. In the roadworks area.

Two of the four lanes on the bridge are closed due to renovation work.

Lane of A1 northbound closed

A lane of the A1 Western Bypass Northbound is closed on the entry slip road to J69 A692 Lobley Hill Road (Dunston Interchange).

This is due to broken down vehicle.

Traffic is coping well.

Gaps in service on the Metro due to engineering works

Metro trains are running to all destinations however they are subject to gaps in service systemwide.

This was due to earlier overrunning engineering works.
