Mbappe has joined Real on a free transfer, signing a five-year deal. The forward is set to receive €15million net (£12.8m) a season at Real Madrid, which will be down from the €25million net (£21.4m) he earned each year at PSG.

After completing his move, Mbappe posted a series of throwback pictures on Instagram of himself wearing Real Madrid clothing accompanied by the caption: ‘A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream @realmadrid Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid’.

Ronaldo commented on Mbappe’s post, writing: ‘My turn to watch. Excited to see you light up the Bernabeu. #HalaMadrid’.
