Are you worried your clothing choices are aging you?

YouTube creator Chi Li, who makes videos as Petite Dressing for her 358,000 followers, shared a video and warned women, ‘These trends will make you look 10 years older!’

Chi, who has a clothing line for women 5’4″ and under, often makes videos on YouTube and Instagram with the best petite dressing tips focused on making people look longer and leaner.

In the video, Chi started out by suggesting people ditch capri pants, which she said make people look both older and shorter, while showing off a pair of low-rise black clamdiggers paired with beige slides.

Instead, she recommended a full length ‘modern and chic’ pair of slacks, which she said was ‘much easier to style.’

It’s better to elongate the legs with a classic, full-length slack like the one above, as opposed to cutting off the leg at the calf with capris
Despite Chi advising against wearing capris, celebrities like Gigi Hadid like rocking the trend out on the town

Chi’s second piece of advice was staying away from shapeless dresses.

‘Sure they’re comfortable,’ she admitted, before advising that ‘they make you look older and 10 pounds heavier.’

The content creator suggested switching to a waist-cinching dress because ‘no matter how old you are, defining your waist always makes you  look better instantly.’

Chi called loud prints on a dark background she ‘distracting’ and ‘hard to wear.’ As an alternative, she recommended subtle prints, ‘which emphasize you, instead of the clothes.’

She showed off a white waist-cinching dress with vertical blue stripes as an example.

However, some commenters disagreed with the strict sartorial advice.

‘As a younger person, I think older people who wear colorful prints seem more energetic and youthful!’ one viewer enthused.

Another explained, ‘I like looking older. No harassment from men.’

Some people took issue with anyone telling them how to dress, pointing out that it’s about how you feel.

‘I’m a 50 year old mom of three daughters. I just want to tell you, like I tell my kids, that as you get older, you stop caring what people think of you,’ a commenter proclaimed in a lengthy message.

‘It’s amazing how freeing it is when you’re not controlled by society’s trends.

‘I’m happier and people notice my smile instead of my clothes.

‘With that said, I wouldn’t personally wear the before outfits in this video just because it’s not my style,’ she continued.

Others thought it was all about how you present yourself.

‘When I was younger my mom used to say the ugliest outfit will look good if you have your hair done,’ one woman remarked.

A commenter pointed out that while the hacks might work people should, ‘Wear what makes you feel comfortable, it’s not for them it’s for you!’
