‘God willing’ – Wolves star speaks out on Man Utd transfer rumours

Must read

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has played down talk of a potential move to Manchester United this summer.

The Brazilian was recently linked with a £60million move to Old Trafford after an impressive season with his current employers, which brought a return of 14 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances for the club.

Cunha is under contract at Molineux until 2027 after signing for Wolves on a permanent basis this time last year and could become the latest big name to depart the West Midlands after the likes of Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.

Currently back in his home country the 25-year-old was unable to escape speculation over his future and was asked to comment on the prospect of joining United in the coming weeks while watching his local side Botafogo-PB in action.

Responding to this question, he told Globo Esporte: “Whenever I can, I come along [to Botafogo-PB games]. I always want to show that (the affection) is reciprocated. Then we see that talk (Manchester United). But I’m very happy at Wolves.

“My focus is on resting and making the most of my time with my family. I’m very happy at Wolves. The focus now is on having better seasons and helping the club. God willing, I’ll continue on this path.”
