New problem gambling awareness campaign in Sweden

The Swedish gambling regulator has rolled out a new campaign aimed at promoting safer gambling among young people.



The ‘With Your Future as a Bet’ campaign is targeted at players aged 18 to 25 and has been coordinated with Sweden’s Public Health Agency and the Swedish Crown Prosecutor.

The regulator, Spelinspektionen, said the campaign uses “straight and concrete” language with a focus on “unhealthy and risky language.”

Spelinspektionen’s head of communications, Yvonne Hejdenberg, said: “Many come into contact with some form of gambling for money via computer games and apps.

“Through the campaign, we try to talk about the consequences of unhealthy gambling in an emotional way. We believe that the campaign will also be able to speak to adults, especially parents or relatives of children in the target group.”

The campaign will be broadcast on various digital channels and there will be a dedicated portal at the regulator’s website for accessing information about problem gambling and support networks available.
