Our client is an employee-owned, independent publisher that has thrilled and delighted a band of dedicated readers since 1947. They are currently seeking an Editor to contribute to a small and busy team based in Central London.

This hybrid working role reports to the Head of Editorial and seeks experienced candidates to program, manage, and promote fiction titles across an extensive list. The ideal candidate will have worked as an editor or commissioning editor, with experience in publishing illustrated books, strong editorial and project management skills, hands-on copyediting/proofreading experience, and a keen interest in and eye for design.

You will need to be intellectually curious and versatile, commercially minded, highly visually literate, persuasive, collaborative and able autonomously to prioritise a large workload according to tight deadlines. Likely educated to degree level or equivalent, you will be able to read data and analyse market information effectively, as well as being a clear and confident communicator.

You will have a deep interest in SFF, but will have your finger on the pulse across a broad range of genres, from Children’s to Thrillers to Classical texts.
