The Champions League final featured the breaking of a famous tradition at Wembley Stadium.
Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund in the showpiece at the home of English football, with second half goals coming from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr sealing a 15th European Cup triumph for Los Blancos.
Despite being outplayed for large spells and conceding chances aplenty in the first half, Real did what they always do in finals.
You have to go back to 1983 for the last time Real lost major European final, against an Aberdeen side managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Nacho Fernandez became the latest Real captain to lift the richest prize in club football but the manner of the trophy list surprised and caused a stir in equal measure.

After Borussia Dortmund collected their runners’ up medals, Real had the official trophy presentation on the pitch.
That’s despite it being common practice for the winning team to collect their trophy in the Royal Box.
It happens after Carabao and FA Cup finals and was the case on the previous two occasions when the Champions League final was held at Wembley, when Barcelona and Bayern Munich were victorious.

But for reasons unknown, Real only lifted the silverware on the turf and plenty took issue with the decision.
One wrote: “Can’t believe they didn’t do the trophy presentation in the Royal Box. Sacrilege #UCLfinal”
Another said: “Trophy lift not in the royal box is a disgrace.”
A third added: “Wembley trophy presentation on the pitch not in the royal box [thumbs down].”
A fourth commented: “Ludicrous this Wembley presentation is on the pitch. UEFA are ridiculous.”
A final person fumed: “Not going up to the Royal Box to get the trophy at Wembley? The game has well and truly gone.”
SPORTbible has approached UEFA for comment.
