Jake Paul has urged KSI to step in and replace Mike Tyson this summer.

Paul and KSI have been bitter rivals for several years in the social media boxing space, but a showdown has yet to materialise despite their regular call-outs.

The ‘Problem Child’ was set to face heavyweight legend Tyson on July 20, but it has been postponed after the 58-year-old suffered an ‘ulcer flare up’ on a flight.

It is expected the YouTube star will wait for a new date later in 2024, but he has now drawn up a short-term contingency plan.

He wrote to his rival on Twitter: “KSI’s coach saying he is over 200lbs right now? So no weight excuses.

“Let’s run it for July 20, and then Paul Tyson in October / November.”

KSI issued an immediate response, replying: “I’ve already got a fight lined up in August.

“Instead of you fighting an OAP at the end of the year (no one wants to see this), fight me in December instead.”

KSI hasn’t fought since losing to mutual opponent Tommy Fury by controversial split decision in October 2023.

A planned meeting had been set for Wembley Stadium in a verbal agreement on social media, but negotiations stalled.

KSI and Paul have been rivals ever since ‘The Nightmare’ defeated Paul’s brother Logan in the second of their two meetings in 2019.

For now Paul’s focus will likely remain on 58-year-old Tyson, who is expected to make a full recovery and be available to compete later in the year.

The former undisputed champion hasn’t fought competitively since 2005 and has a number of health issues.

Paul issues a statement after the news emerged, insisting he is still ready to do battle.

It read: “I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night.

“My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.

“Paul vs Tyson will be one for the ages, and I promise to bring my best for this once-in-a-lifetime match-up.”
