Jurgen Klopp has offered an insight into what his retirement could look like on the sunny Spanish island of Majorca – but the former Liverpool boss isn’t done with management yet.
The German, 56, has bought a villa on the Balearic island for £3.4million and plans to create ‘an ecological family paradise’ there.
It would be the perfect place to unwind with wife Ulla and his family after admitting he left Liverpool because he was ‘running out of energy.’
On why he was drawn to Majorca, Klopp told the podcast Willipedia via Bild: ‘I’ve dreamed of having a house in the south all my life. I like the weather, the climate, I like the people.
‘There are lots of things I like here and also people I already know. It’s not like I’m looking for new friends. I already have friends for life, and if some of them are here too, that’s cool.’
Expanding on why he feels so at home on the Spanish island, Klopp said: ‘I don’t want to emigrate. We go on holiday here every now and then.

‘But when I’m here, I want everything to be as I know it.
‘That’s totally boring but the point is that I want to get to know a different life, but not somewhere in the jungle or on the mountain.’
With a nod towards the time when he finally does retire from management, he added: ‘We’re getting older and the medical care here is great.
‘There are many German doctors and I would like to be able to understand every word, how I feel and so on, when the problems become bigger.’
Klopp plans to take a break from football to recharge his batteries but has no plans to retire, adding: ‘It’s out of the question that I’ll stop working altogether.
‘But I don’t see myself continuing at the same pace as before at the moment.’
Klopp purchased his Majorcan home in June 2022 for £3.4m from Swiss businessmen and artist Rolf Knie and decided to completely rebuild the 5,000-square metre property.

Bild reported previously how Klopp has transformed the villa into a low-energy house with an interconnected heating and air conditioning system.
The two systems are regulated by a computer to ensure the temperature inside the house remains unchanged regardless of he weather outside, with all electrical devices and appliances controlled via a phone app.
The set-up is intended to reduce electricity consumption by up to 75 per cent.
Landscaping work on the gardens has already begun with the same company that designed the garden of the ‘Son Bunyola’ hotel owned by British billionaire Richard Branson overseeing it.
After his nine years at Liverpool drew to a close on the final weekend of the Premier League season, Klopp was pictured in Majorca, where he stayed at the five-star Kimpton Aysla Hotel with wife Ulla. That’s while construction work on his new villa continues.
But Klopp returned to Merseyside for an emotional farewell event this week and he will be at the Champions League final between former club Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid at Wembley this Saturday evening.
MailOnline also revealed Klopp and his wife have become honorary members at the exclusive Mallorca County Club.
He has visited the €2,800-a-year club to play padel, a hybrid of squash and tennis. Klopp has admitted he is ‘addicted’ to the sport and had a court installed at Liverpool’s training ground.
Other honorary members there include Prince Albert of Monaco, Princess Birgitta of Sweden, Boris Becker, Novak Djokovic and British billionaire Branson.
