Eight British men, reportedly on a stag do holiday, were arrested after a brawl at a restaurant in Mallorca.

The incident, which took place at Balneario Illetas beach club restaurant in Calvia, near Magaluf, saw a waiter and two police officers injured.

Authorities emphasised a tough stance against such behaviour, with a council spokesperson urging “tourists like these” to go somewhere else.

Calvia Council said: “A mass fight at the Balneario Illetas restaurant on Wednesday has led to the arrest of eight English men aged around 30.”

“A waiter was injured after being hit in the head and two police officers were also hurt and are awaiting a medical evaluation.”

Witnesses stated that the men started throwing trash and beer cans into the sea, causing irritation among beachgoers and patrons.

“The response of the group, who appeared to have drunk excessively, was extremely violent,” officials said, adding: “They attacked staff and confronted the police.’

Seven restaurant customers and sunbathers have pressed charges against the tourists, with local officials vowing to maintain security and protect the area’s image.

Calvia’s deputy mayor Esperanza Catala said this morning: “Let no-one be mistaken, we are going to be inflexible with this sort of people that we don’t want in Calvia and we are not going to let them get away with anything.”

This incident adds to existing tensions over tourism disruptions, highlighted by recent protests in Palma against holidaymakers.
