Must read

The Britain’s Got Talent semi final got off to a dramatic start as pogo act Duncan Murray kicked off the show on Wednesday evening.

The Canadian pogoist returned to the stage with his updated act after first wowing the judges when he jumped over hosts Ant and Dec during his audition.

However, things didn’t quite go to plan for the student as fans were left furious on Twitter before the performance had even begun.

Viewers took to social media enraged that yet another act on the British talent contest wasn’t from the UK, as Duncan is in fact Canadian.

And things went from bad to worse after his friend, who he recruited for the performance, fell mid bounce and was left on the stage awkwardly clapping along as Duncan continued bouncing.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans fumed: ‘#bgt #britainsgottalent come on surely you need to actually live in Britain to be on? Most of the acts have come to uk just to enter the competition? Have we really no talent?’

‘Oops Douglas, what an admission. Your vision is Vegas, not the Royal Variety Show… wrong country!!!’

That makes a change; an international act! Honestly a man on a pogo stick! This counts for talent? This show is scrapping along the bottom of the barrel.’; ‘First act up… Canadian’.

‘#BritainsGotTalent How ironic that the judges choose a foreign act over a British act in the 2nd semi of Britain’s got talent.’; ‘Are there any British people actually on Britain’s got talent?’; ‘Another brit not’.

While Duncan’s performance began outside with the star pogo-ing over cars in a pre-recorded section.

He then entered the Eventim Apollo where he joined two of his fellow pogo friends on stage.

However, during a dramatic flip one of his friends fell off their stick and was left awkwardly clapping along to the music as he attempted to conceal his mistake.

Confused fans asked on Twitter: ‘did one fall off?’; ‘Was he meant to have come off that pogo stick then??’

‘You might want to tuck your head in a little bit’ he suggested, as Ant let out a squeal of terror.

After successfully completing the trick the audience and judges broke into applause and standing ovation with Simon gushing: ‘[This is] Something we’ve never seen before. You got everything’.

As Bruno Tonioli said: ‘Totally agree. I’ve never seen anything like it, it was stunning!’.
