A Place in the Sun star Jamsine Harman broke down in tears on Wednesday as she talked about her late co-star, Jonnie Irwin.

The 48-year-old presents the Channel 4 show, which Irwin, who died aged 50 earlier this year, also hosted.

Harman became emotional as she reflected on her late friend while discussing new episodes of A Place in the Sun.

“You never know what’s around the corner and I think Jonnie’s situation, we can all take something from it,” she stated as she wiped away tears during an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women.

The property expert went on to add: “We can all cherish every day and live with as much joy as possible and that’s what he did.”

Harman was among the many close friends of Irwin’s who paid tribute to him following his death in February.

“Jonnie, you’ve taught me so much in our time as work colleagues and as good friends,” she wrote on her social media account.

“I have never admired you more than over the last few years as you’ve faced life with cancer with positivity, determination and mindedness.

“I’ve never known anyone as strong as you. You have done yourself, your loved ones and all of us proud.”

Father-of-three Irwin was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 but kept his illness private until late 2022.

Speaking earlier this month, his widow Jess, 40, talked openly about losing her husband.

In a candid interview, she shared a particularly “heartbreaking” question her son Cormac asked her.

Speaking to Hello!, she recalled the toddler asking: “Can the spaceman not find him?” as he talked about his dad and looked up to the skies.

“That broke my heart,” she explained before adding: “Rex had these wrap-around sunglasses on when we went away recently and he pointed to the screws and said, ‘Mummy, look – if you press this button, you can see up in the sky. And if you press this button, you can speak to Daddy.'”

Talking about other questions her children have asked, she also revealed: “Rex will say, ‘Would Daddy like to watch this?’ or, ‘Was this Daddy’s favourite chocolate?’

“He wants to include him, whereas with the twins, it’s more, ‘I want Daddy to come back,’ and I say, ‘Yes, I do, too’.”

She also admitted she gets “really sad” thinking about the final moments of Irwin’s life, wondering whether or not he was aware his life was coming to an end.

“That’s what makes me really, really, really sad, when I think what must have been going through his mind,” she confessed.
