LEIGH-ANNE Pinnock has spoken about the “hell” of being in a long-distance relationship with her husband Andre Gray, admitting “I can’t do it anymore”.
The Little Mix star wed Andre last summer but said they hardly see each other due to his career as a footballer in Saudi Arabia.
She has stayed home in the UK and confessed they only see each other for a couple of days each month.
Leigh-Anne explained: “We have a long distance relationship. He lives in Saudi, he plays football there.
“So for the last two years we’ve been apart, basically, seeing each other for maybe two days a month. It’s been hell to be honest.”
But asked about whether there is a possibility he will move away again when his current contract ends, she said: “I can’t do it anymore. I can’t do it. I think we have to wait and see.”
More on Leigh-Anne Pinnock
During a discussion with singer Jessie Ware on her Table Manners podcast, Leigh-Anne was asked whether she resents the fact Andre lives so far away, particularly given they have young twins.
She said: “I try not to because I know what he’s doing it for, he’s doing it for us. But it’s so hard though, having two two-and-a-half year olds.”
Speaking about his contract in Saudi Arabia, she continued: “It actually ends this summer so he’s home next week. I’m so excited.
“Then family – valued, beautiful time. But we don’t know [what’s next]. But that’s the thing about being with a footballer, you don’t know where you’re going to be.
“I can’t move with him anywhere because obviously I can’t have a career where he’s going to go. I have to be local to home.”
She will release her debut EP No Hard Feelings on Friday, followed by an intimate concert at Lafayette in London on June 11.
Quizzed on why she is releasing it, she said: “I don’t think I was ready to put an album out.
“The music I’m trying to do is so different from anything in Little Mix, I think I would have been naïve to think everybody would come along with me.
Leigh-Anne and Andre’s love story
It’s the classic story of the pop star and the football player
“I really do feel like I’m trying to build a fan base and build something new.
“I think this EP for me is about solidifying who I am as an artist and letting people know who Leigh-Anne is.”
